ABSTRACT
Introduction: the covid-19 pandemic has an impact in various aspects. One of them is educational
institutions that finally carry out the learning process through online methods. Ignorance and new policies
for students cause anxiety and decreased self-confidence in students so that it can interfere with the success
of the learning process. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of anxiety and confidence in
students in dealing with nursing clinical practice with online learning methods.
Method: This research used quantitative research with a descriptive study approach. The number of samples
used were 77 students at STIKes RS Husada with purposive sampling technique. The instrument was
modified from the State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) for the anxiety variable, while the researcher
modified the self-confidence. The statistical test analysis used was the frequency distribution.
Result: The level of anxiety of students in dealing with psychiatric nursing clinical practice with online
learning methods was severe (15.6%), moderate anxiety (70.1%), and mild anxiety (14.3%). Meanwhile,
students' self-confidence in dealing with nursing clinical practice with online learning methods had high
self-confidence (16.9%), moderate confidence (67.5%), low self-confidence (15.6%). Most of the students
experienced moderate anxiety and moderate levels of self-confidence when facing nursing clinical practice
with online learning methods during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Conclusion: students in dealing with online clinical practice during the Covid-19 pandemic had moderate
levels of anxiety and self-confidence, so it is important to create an effective learning process for students'
readiness to adapt to online learning.
